Kenosha Public Library hosts its 2nd annual Comic-Con on Saturday, August 18th and KCM will be there, welcoming you to tour the Hub, a digital media lab, as well as to take in all of the Comic-Con activities from 10:00am-3:00pm. Activities include Stump the Librarians Fandom Trivia with prizes and bragging rights for trivial champs. Play board and video games, enter the costume contest, take green screen photos, see a movie screening, make crafts, and meet special guests. Doors open at 9:00 AM for costume registration! All ages welcome.

The spirit of Kenosha and the spirit of goodwill exists in Teri Jacobsen and Ardis Mahone-Mosley, who work tirelessly behind-the-scenes to bring the HarborPark Jazz, Rhythm & Blues Festival to Kenosha, WI each year. This festival is more than music, though. Proceeds benefit the Mary Lou and Arthur F. Mahone Fund so it may provide educational opportunities for economically and academically deserving youth and to support healthy lifestyle initiatives in communities of color. Kenosha Community Media is proud to help spread awareness of the festival and the mission of the Mahone Fund. The Hub, a digital media lab, made possible through a partnership between Kenosha Community Media and Kenosha Public Library will open to the public in June 2018. The Hub features an HD video production studio with green screen technology and a computer lab with Mac computers, outfitted with Adobe Creative Cloud software, ideal for graphic design, audio and video post-production, and more. Crowdsourced Kenosha is a creative community project of Kenosha Community Media, Inc. (KCM) and the Kenosha Public Library in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Its built on a model from Northampton Community Television (NCTV), and its primary objective is to engage the public to re-make a famous film, the 1921 horror classic, Nosferatu. The public serves as producer, director, camera operator, talent, costume and set designer, and in other roles,
Crowdsourced Kenosha is a free,inclusive venture. Kids, teens, and grownups may participate. No experience required. You don't even need to be human. Puppets and animated Legos may join in the fun. Participants may work by themselves, using their own cameras and other equipment, or they may join Crowdsourced Camp, a free training and production experience, taking place from June 16 through August 31, 2018.

We're happy to share some wonderful news from our friends at the Kenosha Public Library: Reserve your tickets to a stylish, Great Gatsby-inspired evening of festivities at the historic Simmons Library on Saturday, October 7th. On this night, the Kenosha Public Library Foundation will highlight the contributions of its extremely dedicated community members. This year the honored guest will be Betsy Brown, accepting the Library Legacy Award on behalf of herself and her late husband, Howard.
The evening will present music, wine, beer, and champagne, and fabulous small plates and desserts from Sazzy B. Silent auction items will include four Disney passes and other coveted pieces. The night will close with a stunning fire-dancer show.
