KCM and the Kenosha Public Library are working together to build a Digital Media Lab at Southwest Library, 7979 38th Avenue, in Kenosha. The Lab will open in 2018 and feature a two-camera HD production studio with green screen technology and control room, as well as a lab space for iMac computers, loaded with advanced video, audio, graphic design, photo and other software programs. KCM will continue to operate from the Media Center on Washington Road in Kenosha.
Kenosha Community Media held its 32nd Anniversary Celebration & Volunteer Recognition Night at the Fireside Restaurant on November 9, 2017. This year's theme was What's Your Story? Joining KCM were storytellers Greg DeGuire and Viki DuMez who provided entertainment and insights into the early days of cable TV in Kenosha. KCM thanked its volunteers for their work over the past year, and Library Director Barbara Brattin gave an update on the Digital Media Lab, opening in 2018 for public use at Southwest Library. Thanks to Darlene Duncan for decorations and to Nancy Mathews for fund contributions toward acquisition of volunteer shirts. Awards were presented to Curt Meyer, Producer of the Year Award; Jeff Roberts, Lifetime Achievement Award; and John Bloner, Jr., Recognition of Service Award. Thank you to everyone who turned out and who support our organization.
Our friends at the United Way of Kenosha County are in need of people like you to be a part of its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Team. No experience necessary. Your commitment is only 3 hours/week. Training starts in January. How successful is this program, you might ask? Over the past 8 years, Kenosha area families have received more than $13 million in refunds. That's no small change for the small amount of effort needed from each volunteer. Interested in becoming a volunteer? Call Dena Johnson at the United Way of Kenosha County office at 262-658-4104 or send an email message to DJohnson@kenoshaunitedway.org THANK YOU!
Dine IN and Help OUT. KCM is grateful to the fine folks at HuHot Mongolian Grill, 7214 Green Bay Road, #100, in the Southport Plaza for welcoming KCM into their Helping Hands program. Here's how it works. You dine at HuHot Grill on Thursday, November 16th between the hours of 4:00-8:00pm. Enjoy a delicious stir-fry. HuHot will then donate 10% of its sales to KCM. You're able to have a night out, while at the same time, help KCM to continue to provide its resources and services to the Kenosha area. Share this with your friends.
